Iowa RP Family Camp

The first week would be a week of getting things together: Crafts 1 hour each for ages 7-14 divided into 2 groups before or after the lesson(ages 7-11 & 12-14 or 7-8 & 9-14) Crafts are to be done over 4 days of 1 hour each (the last day the second group will only have 45 minutes). These crafts are to be meaningful but as inexpensive as possible. The Craft leader should inquire as to local resources before purchasing supplies. We try to keep the costs to approximately $1/child/day.

Lessons for

  • Oaks - (0-3 nursery with some stories,2.5 hrs)
  • Firs - (ages 4-6, 2.5 hrs)
  • Maples - (ages 7-8, 1 hr - then crafts)
  • Cedars - (ages 9-11, 1 hr - then crafts)
  • Redwoods - (ages 12-14, 1 hr - then crafts).

These lessons should be based on an outline/overview of the talks by Pastor Greg Stiner.

Counselors

Prepare Morning or Evening Devotions and plan activities during afternoon free time, have a couple skit options also available to provide direction for skit/talent night.

  • Cedar Girls & Cedar Boys - (ages 9-11)
  • Redwood Girls and Boys - (ages 12-14)
  • Hickory Girls and Boys - (ages 15-19)

As there would be varying time requirements for preparation for this group they could also organize campfire devotions/or testimonials. Also there are packets, name tags, door signs, etc. to be prepared for the camp. The registrar could also utilize/share the activity of assigning rooms/cabins - giving some of the team members insight into this area of camp preparation.

If they have additional spare time the Washington church could utilize them for mowing, trimming, weeding and cleaning inside and outside the church building.
